Past Future Continuous Tense

WOULD + BE + V-ing

Past Future Continuous is used to say that someone will be in the middle of doing something or there will be a situation happening at a certain time in the past.

Notice the following situation example:
-     Kevin was going to attend an English class yesterday afternoon. The class began at 2.00 pm and ended at 3.30 pm. Sarah wanted to see Kevin the same afternoon and wanted to know if she could come to his house at 3.00 pm. Kevin told her that at 3.oo pm he would be having an English class.

Kevin says that at 3.00 pm, he would be in the class studying English. The situation told was happened yesterday.

Other Examples:
-     I told Jason not to call me between 8.00 and 9.00. I would be watching football match on TV by then.
-     At 9 o’clock yesterday morning, I would be working in my office.
-     Sarah needed to see me. I told her that I would be staying at Lucy’s house until Saturday last week.

The Continuous form of BE GOING TO for past time is:

WAS/WERE GOING TO + BE + Ving

-     I told Jason not to call me between 8.00 and 9.00 yesterday evening because I was going to be watching football match on TV.
-     At 9 o’clock tomorrow morning, Se was going to be working in her office.
-     Sarah needed to see me and my brother. She knew that we were going to be staying at Lucy’s house until Saturday last week.
